At Bit of Serenity, we believe in the power of nature to inspire and nurture. What began as a peaceful haven has grown into a vibrant space where children and adults alike can reconnect with the land, animals and simple joys of farm life.

Our Story

Our story began a year ago, when my grandson Skylyn and his family moved to the farm. It was a moment of pure joy to imagine him growing up in the same country setting that had been so meaningful for his DaDa. However, as Skylyn navigated his new environment, I quickly realized that a little dirt on his hands and clothes was a big hurdle. With patience and encouragement from Mom Mom, Skylyn soon learned that getting dirty is part of the farm experience – and the adventure became irresistible. Before long, playing in the dirt with tractors and wearing his “boots” became his favorite pastime, and his enthusiasm grew every day.

When I retired in May, Skylyn’s love for the farm took on new dimensions. He would eagerly look for me in the garden and proudly announce, “Mom Mom – I got my boots on!”   His way of telling me he was ready to lend a hand is what started me thinking about the possibilities of sharing this joy with others. It became clear that the magic of the farm could extend beyond our family.

Thus, Bit of Serenity Farm evolved into a petting zoo experience with an added mobile option where we bring the zoo to you! Our current menagerie includes rabbits, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, pig, mini horses, and more – providing an immersive, hands-on learning environment for all ages. We are excited to announce that in Spring 2025, our mini horse Sugar is expecting, adding to the growing family of animals.

This Fall we invited friends and neighbors for a memorable Farm Day Opening to interact with our pets and one another. Skylyn worked on building his social skills and with some reluctance shared his beloved “Cricket” for pony rides. Watching him grow in confidence was an incredibly proud moment for Mom Mom.

At Bit of Serenity Farm, we are committed to fostering a space where wonder, learning, and connection flourish. Whether it’s working with animals, planting vegetables, or watching the  sunset, we invite people of all ages to experience the joy and serenity of life on a farm. Deep connections can be formed with hands-on learning.

Complimentary designated area with table & chairs for a smaller group if you wish to bring and serve food 1 hour prior to your scheduled time can be provided

  • *There are no mileage charges within a 25 mile radius from our farm in Havre de Grace, MD. After 25miles we add $1 per mile to and from, plus tolls.
  • *All participants must sign a waiver (Home page at top) prior to petting or holding the animals.
  • *Payments accepted: Venmo, Zelle or cash.
  • *A non refundable 50% deposit at time of booking to hold the request.
  • *Payment in full is due 48hrs prior to the event or the event is considered cancelled.
